Project 365 – Day 65: Neon signs on rue Sainte-Catherine
March 5 2012
Took a quick walk down to rue Sainte Catherine around sunset to grab today’s photo. I only managed to take a few pics on my walkabout and selected the shot of the Banque Scotia cinema neon sign for the 365 project day photo – taken on rue Metcalfe opposite the Taverne Square Dominion.
Just down the street from the cinema is Reuben’s deli restaurant that has a great facade.
Since opening in 1976, Reuben’s has become a landmark institution, famed for its smoked meat and homemade strawberry cheesecake. The art-deco exterior continues into the jazz inspired interior.
While walking up McGill College avenue, I noticed there was a great reflection on the Maison Astral building – Head Offices of Astral Media.
The almost full moon was positioned nicely over the skyline, so I took a picture from the steps of the arts building on the McGill University campus. Even though I took 3 exposures at f11 (2s,7s and 25s) the moon still ended up looking like a giant star. The full moon is Thursday, so hope to get better results then – weather permitting,
