Project 365 – Day 324: Avenue du Parc and some light painting experiments
November 19 2012
I took a walk up avenue du Parc late this afternoon, originally with the idea of shooting a couple of locations, but both were closed and not looking at their best. So I improvised and just grabbed a couple of shots along the way.
Did you spot the addition of the word Café in the logo on the above photo?
Starbucks add the word Café to their signage at locations across Québec to comply with the provincial language law. A number of other large International brands (Walmart, Costco, Best Buy, Gap, Old Navy and Guess) are taking the Quebec government to court over the provincial language watchdog’s insistence they modify their commercial brand names to include some French. According to Section 63 of Quebec’s French Language Charter, the name of a business must be in French, although to-date it hasn’t generally been applied to trademarked names. The retailers will present their case to the Superior Court this Thursday.
With rush hour starting and the fact avenue du Parc has a lot of traffic signals, I thought a bokeh shot was justified.
Following the bokeh attempt,I went a bit artsy and experimented with some long exposure light painting while walking back down du parc next to Parc Jeanne-Mance. I thought a few produced quite interesting results.
